Programmer - a specialist engaged in the development of algorithms and computer programs based on special mathematical models. The main activity of the programmer is related to the development and implementation of software.

The main responsibilities of a programmer are:
- development of programs that provide the ability to perform the algorithm and the task by means of computer technology, their testing and debugging;
- determination of the information to be processed by computer technology, its volumes, structure, input, processing, storage and output schemes, control methods;
- launch of debugged programs and input of initial data determined by the conditions of the tasks;
- development of instructions for working with programs, preparation of the necessary technical documentation;
- support for the implementation of programs and software;
- software troubleshooting.

Type of profession in the subject of labor: programmers work with numbers and codes, this allows us to attribute the profession in the subject of labor to the type of “Person - Sign System”. Also, the profession can be attributed to the type of «Man - Technique», as the work of a programmer can be associated with the installation, assembly and commissioning of technical devices.

Type of profession according to working conditions: work in «room» conditions.

Profession class: creative (heuristic), by the nature of labor, the profession of a programmer is associated with analysis, planning, organization and management, design, and adoption of non-standard decisions. The profession requires high erudition, original thinking, striving for development and continuous learning.

A programmer should possess such personal qualities as: accuracy, attentiveness, determination, ability to make decisions independently, responsibility, patience, perseverance, a tendency to intellectual activities.
Professionally important qualities of a programmer include:
- logical thinking;
- flexibility and dynamism of thinking;
- analytical skills;
- good memory;
- mathematical and technical abilities.

Employment: at the end of the college, students can work in any organizations that use IT technologies - computer firms, web studios, information departments of various enterprises, government agencies, law enforcement agencies (Ministry of Internal Affairs, Federal Security Service, traffic police, Ministry of Emergency Situations, customs service, tax authorities), medical institutions, banks and other financial organizations, at the enterprises of industry, energy, trade, communications and transport.
